CHICAGO - my review

So now that Michael Hurst's musical Chicago has ended I can post up my review on the show. (I didn’t want to post anything up sooner in case there were people still making their way to Auckland to see the show). The show itself officially ended on December 22 after being extended and amazing 3 times due to demand and popularity. I got to fly over on November 23 to see the show and got to see my hero LUCY LAWLESS live on stage and let me say, she was SENSATIONAL. I loved how intimate and small the production was, the stage was so tiny that you could literally reach out and touch the actors. The lights go dark and when they come back on the one and only Lucy is standing right beside me, right next to my seat and I could not take my eyes off her, her performance was amazing and boy can the lady sing. Lucy played Velma Kelly and Amanda billing who also portrayed a gorgeous performance played the part of Roxie and I absolutely loved her rendition of ROXIE. The cast is absolutely gorgeous, they were sexy and raunchy and funny and sad all rolled into one and the entire production was an absolute credit to Michael Hurst, his vision and portrayal of the show made it one of the best I have ever seen. I would love to see the show come out on DVD, but I did see posts from Michael on Twitter indicated that it looks impossible to do due to legal reasons, but who knows if things will change in the past. I am so glad I got to go see the show and I was also incredibly fortunate to of had the opportunity to meet Lucy as well, absolute dream come true and one I will never ever forget. Jimmy
