THE ULTIMATE LUCY LAWLESS EXPERIENCE
Adelaide comic con 2016
THE ULTIMATE LUCY LAWLESS EXPERIENCE
So April 9 and 10 we flew to the Adelaide comic con to attend the Ultimate Lucy Lawless experience and to say I was overwhelmed is an absolute understatement.
Even though we have met Lucy before – the anticipation of it happening again is just absolutely mind boggling and out of this world and almost like an out of body experience.
To admire and love someone who means so much to you. I honestly don’t think that can be put into words.
It’s hard to sum up the love and admiration at looking at the person who (unknowingly) has changed your entire world.
We flew into Adelaide on the Friday afternoon – my anxiety was sky high and all I kept thinking was hold it together Jamie, don’t let it all overwhelm you. Be in the moment and try and take it all in.
I spent moments on the Friday night being very quiet and my mind was going 100 miles an hour and yeah. It’s very hard to express the emotions going on in your head.
We had dinner that night and went back to the hotel – I didn’t sleep much that night and Saturday morning was soon fast upon us.
We got up early and went for a walk – we found a small café and had a egg and bacon roll – I realised after we had got home that it would be the only thing I ate all Saturday. So that just kind of shows how caught up in the whole experience I was to not even remember to eat food LOL.
We saw Marion who is one of my online face book friends and it was lovely meeting her for the very first time – big hugs and hellos all around.
So we get our wristbands and our ultimate Lucy lanyards and we head into the convention.
First up for me and Scotty was to go for our photo ops – being ultimate experience card holders – we got to line up in the priority queue we were up near the front and I saw Lucy arrive and standing in the booth ready for people to come line up for photos, my heart started racing and I could feel by heart beat in my ears hahaha
She was just so beautiful – her hair slicked back and its coloured purple for her character Ruby Knowby in Ash V’s the Evil dead.
Scotty and I walked up and she was like HELLO BOYS how are we – and we jumped on in for a big hug – I was wearing a HAKUNA MATATA T Shirt and she said … and what’s on your T-shirt?? And I showed her and she goes COOL … HAKUNA MATATA and I laugh and said YUP – it was to remind myself to have no worries about this weekend cause its super exciting and all overwhelming – she laughed and wrapped her arm around me and then looked at Scotty and said – and how are you doing. And Scotty said GREAT – and said we came to see you in Auckland a few years back when you did Chicago and she goes – ohhhh yessssssss my super fans …… my head was just racing from excitement – she is mesmerizing.
Its just such a shame its so quick with the whole process of photos – like I get that there are thousands of people and its a lot of the stars but it would be so nice to just have some one on one time with them.
I said to Scotty – if anything it makes me appreciate even more the fact we got that entire one on one time with her in new Zealand – that’s just forever awesome.
So after the photo – we had some time to kill so we checked out all the stalls and brought some pics and posters.
Scotty spotted Lucy’s autograph area and noticed a big poster of her as Xena with her name on it and he organised with the vendors to buy it and have Lucy personalise it for us.
So when it came to the time of the sit down autograph sessions – we made our way in line to that.
For me Lucy autographed my custom journal and Scotty brought a xena poster that she sighed – he then let her know we purchased the poster and she goes – ohhh wow you guys really are my super fans aren’t you and she jumped up and autographed it there and then for us.
Her personal assistant was sitting with her and she loved my journal and asked for a closer look and her and Lucy were sussing out all the leatherwork and commented about how beautiful it was.
We thanked them and thanked Lucy for her time and walked off with very excited and super happy.
From there we went over to a framing booth and Scotty organised to get our photos with Lucy professionally framed and his poster she signed as well.
From there we headed back to the hotel for a shower and then headed back to the comic con as Lucy had a 5pm afternoon panel Q and A
We got front row and she was just amazing – I don’t think many can fully comprehend the impact this women has on my life – she is just the ultimate cool chick – so easy going – so kind and she’s XENA man – like far out ……
The panel went for just under an hour and then we head to B line it to the Hilton Hotel for a round table meet and greet – It was part of the VIP experience, So we Had Lucy, Hudson and Ray (he is in Ash V’s the Evil dead)
They rotated around the tables and spent about 20 minutes at each table – it was really lovely – we all got that little one on one time with each of them.
I sat between Scotty and my new friend Gayle - we had connected via Twitter but got to also meet for the first time at the convention as well.
Hudson asked Scott and I where we were from and Scott asked her where does she call home – She is from LA and we told her how we were in LA the week before and how we went to Disneyland.
She has such an aura about her – she is so kind – so sweet and so genuine – like she is totally engaging and just connects with every single person. It was the loveliest experience and never in a million years would I have thought that id get to sit at a dinner table with Hudson Leick - MIND BLOWN.
Lucy was next at our table – and of course my heart started to race and I was mesmerized by the amazing LL – I was just totally fixated on her the whole time … I had a friend over at one of the other tables and she commented later that every time she looked over at me, the look on my face was priceless as I was just totally caught up in the moment of sitting and talking with Lucy.
As Lucy got up to leave the table I blew her a kiss and she blew me one back – so I loved that… that’s another little memory ill always have.
The extra little unexpected bonuses of the evening happened after the even finished, Scott, Gayle and I bumped into Lucy again in the foyer of the hotel and had a bit more of a chat and then once we made our way outside Lucy and her personal assistant come walking around the corner and I yelled out. Are you stalking us Lucy Lawless – and she smiled and waved and said bye boyssssssssss and we all laughed and we watched them walk down the street.
Its so surreal – its like … there is Lucy Lawless. Just walking down the street – its like MIND BLOWNNNNNNNN
Scotty and I walked back to the hotel and that was our day 1 of the ULTIMATE LUCY LAWLESS EXPERIENCE and man what an experience it was.
DAY 2 – Sunday
We only had the morning at the convention as we had a few other things we wanted to get down in Adelaide.
The good news was that Hudson’s photo and Autographs were done in the morning.
Even though we got to see Hudson the night before, I was excited to be able to have that little one time with her again.
We were close off the rank in terms of the queue so only had a few minutes to wait before we would get our photos done.
We walked in and she said – oh it’s my LA boys (she remembered from the night before)
The universe must have been working in our favour as the camera man needed to keep adjusting settings on his camera – so it meant more hug times with Hudson – and I told her id hug her for as long as I could.
Photos ops being so quick in nature – I quickly ramble in a comment about how much her face book comments mean to me and how they help me – as we moved to the side to leave the photo op she put her hands up like she was praying and thanked me and I did the same back to her – I was so happy.
Her energy is so lovely – so healing – I felt and still feel amazing for it.
I have to say – I owe my Scott the biggest thank you – he made this all possible and bent over backwards to give me an amazing and wonderful experience.
Something I will have for the rest of my life
AMAZING
